چکیده
Background: Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the most common oral malignancy with high rate of mortality. Cisplatin, as effective chemotherapy drug, has side effects. Considering studies on use crocin in saffron treatment various malignancies, this study aimed at investigating effects and cisplatin their combination SCC fibroblast lines. Materials Methods: In interventional study, HN5 lines were treated different concentrations (12.5–50 μg/mL) (2, 4, 8, 16, 32 μg/mL), cells counted after 24, 48, 72 h by 3‑(4,5‑dimethylthiazol‑2‑yl)‑2,5‑diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay. Data analyzed SPSS Version 17, P < 0.05 was considered level significance. final stage, flow cytometry 24 terms pattern death done. Results: Both drugs had a toxic effect malignant cells. One point 8 μg/mL not only cancer (P 0.001) but also fibroblasts. However, 12.5 same line, despite less fibroblasts comparison alone = 0.012). Apoptosis showed cytometry. Conclusion: Crocin can have significant toxicity healthy tissue. It seems that lower doses crocin, cisplatin, besides having anticancer effect, reduce Key Words: Apoptosis, carcinoma, culture techniques, crocus, squamous

Immunohistochemical Evaluation of Fascin in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Background and purpose: Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the eighth most common cancer in men and the fifteenth in women. Localized recurrence and metastasis to regional lymph nodes are major problems in these patients. Fascin is a 55- kDa protein from the family of actin-binding proteins that is expressed in cells with membranous bronchial tubes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the expre...

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM Evidence shows thiabendazole has the potential to inhibit angiogenesis in melanoma and fibrosarcoma; however, its effect on oral squamous cell carcinoma has not been previously studied. PURPOSE This study sought to assess the cytotoxic effects of thiabendazole on HN5 head and neck squamous carcinoma cell line. MATERIALS AND METHOD HN5 cell lines were exposed to diff...

Background and Aims: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is one of the most prevalent oral cancers with increased risk in individuals younger than 40 years especially in developed countries. There are many evidences that people who have plenty of fruits and vegetables in their diets tend to have lower risk of cancer. In this study, we evaluated the anticancer effect of four medicinal plants of ...

Background and objective: Oral tongue Squamous Cell carcinoma (SCC) commonly involves males between the sixth to eighth decades of life. Major risk factors are tobacco usage and alcohol consumption. The increasing number of patients developing oral tongue cancer without these well-known risk factors suggests that a viral infection, such as Human Papil...
متن کاملEvaluation of Radiosensitive Effect of Tolmetin in Radiotherapy on Human Colonic Carcinoma Cell Line HT-29
Background: Radiotherapy is one of the cancer treatment methods. Although radioresistance and normal tissue toxicity limit the radiation therapy in certain anatomical locations, using some substances can be useful to increase radiosensitivity on cancer cells without cytotoxicity effect on normal cells. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the radiosensitizing effect of tolmetin in radiother...
